We accept the story about Lord and Lady Howe as being authentic. After the death of Lord Howe, Lady Mary Howe met and married James Swindell. We are not aware that Lady Mary Howe was pregnant at the time and that a baby was born. It is certainly possible and the baby probably was William Howe, Jr. We are only knowledgeable about one Seth Swindell, born about 1808. You are, no doubt, descended from Seth's brother, Thomas. Seth Swindell, b.1808, was the father of a number of children, one of which was Nathan Swindell, born in 1853 in Mississippi. Nathan is my great grandfather Swindell. Seth died in January, 1880 in Alcorn Co., MS. His widow, Elizabeth was enumerated in the 1880 census of Alcorn Co., MS along with her younger children. Seth's oldest son, Thomas who was born in 1835 by Seth's first wife. Don't know her name. Through DNA testing we have proof that this Thomas is our family. Reguarding your last question, it seems that William Howe, Jr. could not have been a brother to Lady Mary Howe as her maiden name would not have been Howe.
We believe that, most likely, William Howe, Jr. was Mary Howe Swindell's son by Lord Howe and then William was a stepson to our James Swindell. We have a picture of the nice plantation home of James and Mary Howe Swindell. Now if you can determine what Lady Howe's maiden name was, we would like to know that. Thanks for your interest in our Swindell Family. Also, do you know the names of all of the children of James Swindell and Mary Howe Swindell?
Gene and Janice Swindell White.
