James Swindel in seen in the 1850 census of Washington County, Florida and was 71 years of age. In the 1860 census there he is listed as James Swindle 80 with what appears to be his 35 year old wife, Virginia and children: Samuel 14, George 12, Thomas 10, Euriah 8, Francis 6, Rebecca 4 and William 1 years old. I need to view this census to make sure this was not a daughter? The land records of Perry County, Alabama state that James Swindle was living in Wahsington County Florida when he sold his land in Perry County, Alabama. Seems our James Swindle had whole other family. Mary (Howe) Swindle is seen in the 1850 & 60 census in Perry County, Alabama living with her children. Since they were both born about 1780 they would have been 80 in 1860. This all seems to match. I am still communicating with the Swindal researcher but this appears legit.
