LABOR DAY WEEKEND will be the gathering of the cousins by the dozens for dinner at Nick's Restaurant in Cookeville, TN on Friday, Sept. 2,2005 at 6 p.m. The Dedication of the Memorial Gravestone to Richard Pennington (see below) will be on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Bethlehem Cemetery, Doyle, Tennessee. Those intrested in being a part of this patriotic, historical, red, white & blue event, please contact me -

Mary Gist, daughter of William Gist, was the wife of Joshua Pennington and is buried in Bethlehem Cemetery, Doyle, White Co., TN. They married 20 Feb 1806 in Barren/Monroe Co., Kentucky. Granderson Pennington, son of Joshua and Mary Gist Pennington, and his daughter, Elizabeth Pennington Swindell, are also buried in Bethlehem Cemetery.

The Cherry family (Louisa Minerva Cherry) married into the Pennington family, as well as the Frailey family (Ester Frailey)and descendants can prove heritage to the BOONE family, as those of us who are members of DAR, SAR, and DAC.

We as descendants of Richard Pennington and Hannah Boone Pennington, parents of Joshua, are placing a new Memorial Marker in Bethlehem cemetery, to honor Richard Pennington, Rev. War soldier who served our Nation at Capt. Enoch Osborn"s Fort in Montgomery (now Grayson) Co., VA. We are trying to locate all descendants of Pennington, Gist, Howard, Frailey, Cherry and Houser families connected to this Pennington Group IV to let them know. I am the contact chairman of the committee - Nell Truitt -
