Im determined to find out if Swint is Dutch or not. When I first looked up the name, I saw a message board similar to this in which a Dutch guy from Rijswijk, Zuid-Holland said Swint was name from Holland (specifically Groningen province in the Northeast). Ive been doing research for about 5 days now. Typing Swint with Dutch, or Swint Netherlands, all kinds of searches like that. I found a site that lets you pick a country and type the last name and it finds either people or businesses, 53 Swints were registed to Holland (of course that isnt all of them). Even someone who replied on this board (Francois Swint) said its Dutch, and he is from Holland. I also found a census from Holland taken in 1947, and it recorded 113 Swints, 68 from Groningen province, mentioned before by someone from Holland.
I fooled around with the name (knowing its spun off Schwind and Geschwind) and on that phone book site I typed Schwind for Holland and only 7 showed up. Likewise, for Swint I typed it in for Germany and only 1 result. So this is strange to me, its like the different variations of the name are found in either Holland or Germany, Swint predominately in Holland.
