Hello, Muhammad --
My first post may not have been much help to you. I've found something in reading through SWINT that may be more helpful. I hope so.
The "original" John SWINT who died in 1801 had a son named James who was married three times. James was born 1781 in Columbia Co, GA and died 1855 in Meriwether Co, GA. James' wives were: (1) Sarah BRYANT, (2) Mary Frazier, (3) Rebecca POWELL. He had no children with Rebecca.
Children of James SWINT & Sarah BRYANT were: William, Mary Frances, James, Thomas, Sarah & Martha. [Child of James SWINT & Mary Frazier was: Daniel.]
James & Sarah's son William was b. 8 Sep 1816, Hancock Co, GA; d. 20 Apr 1895 near Douglassville, TX; bur. Hickory Grove Cemetery; married in Meriwether Co, GA (by James Tender JIC, A-116) to Mahala GODFREY b. 14 Aug 1820, GA; d. 4 Feb 1884 in Douglassville, dau. of George GODFREY & Mary BUCHHANNON. They lived also in Tallapoosa Co, AL, where William's last three children were born.
His war record is found in the Confederate files, Alabama Archives. He enlisted in Tallapoosa Co. with Jonathan P. JACKSON's Company, the "Wilson Grays" and was third corporal, age 45, listed on a Muster Roll, Montgomery on 14 Sep 1861. He received a disability certificate.
A family member says they went to Cass Co, TX in December 1881. This family was not located on the 1870 or 1880 census. [Possibly they were already in Cass Co, TX or perhaps somewhere en route to Cass County and were missed in the census. -- Becky]
Children of William SWINT & Mahala GODFREY were: Nancy; George Washington; Sarah Ray; Eliza Jane; James Polk; Thomas Jefferson; William Littleton; John Frederick; and Mattie Ida.
It appears that your best bet is to check the following places:
[This SWINT line is]:
John SWINT & Elizabeth CARTLEDGE
(Hancock Co, GA; Columbia Co, GA)
James SWINT & Sarah BRYANT
(Columbia Co, GA; Meriwether Co, GA)
William SWINT & Mahala GODFREY
(Hancock Co, GA; Meriwether Co, GA; Tallapoosa Co, AL; Cass Co, TX)
This seems to be the SWINT line you're looking for. If I find any further information, I'll let you know immediately. I hope something here is helpful. I wish you every success in your research.
