Hi Becky, My part of the swint family is now in ohio and Kentucky. From what I've learned they came through Mass. then Pa. and so on. I've also seen dozens of spellings, including swiney, sween, swinton, even going so far as pheeney and wheen. Considering most of our relatives didn't speak english, and immigration officials entered boatloads of people every day. I'm suprised there aren't more variations (there probably are). I don't have a name or arrival date yet. So i've been going on our family crest and history as remembered by older family members and the names they could recall.
