How about Gschwindt?? I am descended from Heinric Gschwindt (b. 1787) Wittenheim Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. The story goes, his grandson, Francis James (Jacob)(b. 1853), changed the family name to Swint while away at college. My Swints settled in Fremont, Ohio.

So, all you are missing is the "G" and that may have been removed by immigration to "Americanise" the name. That's my theory, anyway.
