Update!Found Jacob Swogger (born 1825, died 1872 in Pawnee Co., NE)in the 1850 census - NOT in Allegheny County (the one that was in Allegheny City is not him - same age, though).Butler County is just north of Allegheny County, PA, and that is where they were in 1850 - found living next door to his inlaws, the RICHARDSONs. Jacob's first wife's name had been guessed to have been Margaret - apparently it was "Sarah".Info from 1850 census:

A cousin had given me Nancy Richardson Swogger's (Jacob's 2nd wife and sister of first wife) mother's maiden name as "Martha Pyle" - and the above info seems to fit with that. There are also PYLEs found in Butler County. Also in the town of Cranberry were found the wife of James Richardson, Susannah Dixon. (James and Susannah went to Nebraska with Jacob and Nancy Swogger):
