OBIT-Ann M. Marcy, dau of Frank and Ann (Mikalauskas) Sykes

Ann M. (Sykes) Marcy, of Punta Gorda, FL and formerly of Shrewsbury, died peacefully on Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Punta Gorda, FL following an illness.

She was the wife of the late John P. Marcy, who died in 2002.

She leaves her three children: John P. Marcy, Jr. and his wife, Eleanor Casey, of Winthrop; Michael P. Marcy and his wife, Therese, of Guilford, VT; and Ann Marie Hopkins and her husband, David, of Punta Gorda, FL. Ann will also be missed by her six grandchildren: Paul and Charlotte Marcy, Jason and Joyce Hopkins and Alexandra and Rebecca Marcy. She was born in South Boston, daughter of the late Frank and Ann (Mikalauskas) Sykes and lived in Shrewsbury for many years before moving to Florida a short time ago.

She graduated from the former Girls Latin School, now Boston Latin Academy. She worked for many years for the late Robert Donohue, Esq. in Worcester as a legal secretary.

Ann was a devoted member of Saint Mary's Parish, Shrewsbury, and a member of its Women's Guild. She was a member of the Women's Guild of Saint Casimir's Parish, Worcester, and the Saint John's High School Women's Guild.

Ann also supported and volunteered at the Calvary Retreat Center of the Passionist Fathers in Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ann's family on Saturday, April 24th from 9:30 to 10:30 in the Britton - Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass will then be held at 11 AM in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association , Florida Gulf Coast, 14010 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33762.
