Hi. My Great, Great-Grandfather was George Green Sykes. Research my Uncle John Sykes did indicates that on May 31, 1854, that by Court Action it was ordered that George Green Sykes (6 years of age) be bound to George W. White as an apprentice. The 1860 Census lists Green Sykes (12 yrs, male) in the household of George White (wealth farmer). Also listed that Green Sykes was not attending school.

I have found several documents (including his death certificate) that indicate his mother's name was indeed "Mary". However, the death certificate indicates "unknown" for father's name. I have seen some things with "John" - - but not reliable.
