Hi Peter. I also have a Catherine Symes in my family. She was my great great grandmother.Married my great great grandfather John Hill in Dublin, Ireland in 1859.We couldn't get any records in Ireland because we found out that vitals records only existed after 1862 or so. They travelled through Australia because my great grand father John Frances Hill was born in Balmain, NSW along with some of his siblings. They settled in Fiji. We're assuming Catherine was around 20 or so when they got married.Wonder if there's any connection with your ancestor! That would be great!
regards & good luck
