My ggreatgrandfather's name was James J. Taaffe. He was born abt.1848-49. One of my aunts ,who was his granddaughter,claimed to have traced him back to an uncle of his who was an earl. This earl was a member of the english guard so he was not spoken of.Could he have been the earl of scarsmore?
When my grandmother passed I also heard the wailing banshee!
