I am researching the TAAFFE family who arrived in Christchurch New Zealand, originally from Roscommon via Londonderry in 1860's and 1870's. Bartholemew and Mary (nee Irwin) had one son and several daughters. Their male branch of the name seems to have died out in Christchurch with the death of their grandson James TAAFFE in 1907.
I am particularly interested in finding out:
-(1) If my TAAFFE's were connected with the Kaitaia TAAFFE's who seem to have come from NSW.
-(2) If my TAAFFE's were connected with the other south island TAAFFE's, who lived in Waimate and on the West Coast.
-(3) If anyone knows of the following TAAFFE's who are named as witnesses in various 19 century family baptisms and marriages. Martin, Madge, Ellen.
