Hi Bride Taaffe was one of the sisters of my GGGG grandmother, Eliza Taaffe of "Brook Lawn", County Roscommon, Ireland. They were daughters of James Taaffe. Unfortunately I do not have a family tree in a format to send you, and I do not have many specific dates. An account by Eliza's daughters (Esme) gives the following info: "Miss Eliza Taaffe's brothers & sisters, who were all older than herself were Joe, Frank, Pat, Philip, Jack, James, Ned, Bob, Mary, Esme, Bride and two others whose names I do not remember. The above named brothers and their families were distinguished from each other as "the Taaffes of Foxborough" (Pat), "the Taaffes of Killaden", "the Taaffes of Killyane", "the Taaffes of Wood Lawn" and "the Taaffes of Killeen." The section relating to Hyacinth and Bride reads as follows: "The other Taaffe sister, Bride, was married at the age of thirteen to Hyacinth O'Rourke, Prince of Breffni. When he was bringing her to his home in the vessel he began to remonstrate with her for playing with her doll, saying that now she was a married woman she should have more sense and act like one. Whereupon she flew into a rage, tore the wedding ring off her finger and flung it into the river. She left one daughter, Jane, later Mrs O'Mara, who was so fond of your mother when she was a girl. She was our first cousin and always styled herself "the Princess of Breffni". She lived with Mrs French (Mary Taaffe [another of the Taaffe sisters listed above]) until both died within a short time of each other, since we came to Canada." I am afraid I have no further information on your GGGG grandfather, other than I found a marriage record of Bride and Hyacinth once, giving 31st Oct 1804 and location Portpatrick, Wigtown, Scotland. That was on Familysearch.org so I'm not sure how reliable it will be - they also give Bride's names as Jane. The accounts of the family are quite "romantic" and probably quite economical with the truth, but at least they give the names, if not the dates. Hope I have been of some help.
