Our own family ancestors migrated from Ire.. circa 1740-1750. settled in norther VA.Amer. Three Taaffe men (thought to be brothers)... Peter, James, and one whose given name is unknown. First account of these Taaffe men is in what is now known as Harden County WV. Peter and Elizabeth W.Taaffe had 3 sons... Peter Jr and twins (George and John.)... John's birth is recorded in Early Births of Western Fredrick County VA. and Eastern Hampshire County WVA. compiles by Grace Kelso Garner. and Ralph L. Triplett. George's birthplace is reflected in his ap- plication for a pension for service in the revolutionary war. George made a sworn stat- ment that his birthdate was recorded in the prayer book by his father. Peter Sr died prior to 1782. son Peter in Sept 1787 in a power of attorney from Elizabeth W Taaffe to her son would in- dicate Peter Sr's passing. Peter of legal responsibility as head of household at this time. Tax rolls Hardy County VA. After Revolutionary War's end, George and Peter has returned home. George married and remained in Hardy county until he migrated to Jefferson County TN. Peter Jr married and lived - Loudon CountyVA until he migrated to Jefferson County TN Elizabeth W. Taaffe died on April 5th 1805
