I have a James Taaffee and his brother, Peter, who came from West Meath, Ireland. James was in NY and fought in the War of 1812. He married Catherine Kidney in Ireland and they came to the U.S. prior to 1810. Many of the family worked as butchers. James later went to Wis. and Peter to CA.
