I wonder if any reader is connected to a Rose Taaffe (/Taffe) and/or Owen Bannon? I have a photo album that belonged to Bernard Farrell a brother of my great grandfather Richard and it contains a photo of the two as children.
I have looked at the list of "TAAFFE Births in Ireland 1877- 1905" on

and it seems to me that Rose could only have been born in 1878 in the Dundalk registration district or in 1886 in the Ardee registration district. Ardee is less than 4 miles from the Farrell farm at Drumcondra.
As I believe that Bernard Farrell returned to America circa 1896 I think it is likely that the photo is that of Rose from the Ardee district. I do not know why Bernard kept a photo of the children. They may have been related to him (and to me) in some way. The photo may be seen at:
http://homepage.eircom.net/~meathancestors I have other unnamed photos that were taken in Ireland and in Newark, NJ presumably before 1896. Bernard died in NY in 1903.
I would be very interested in any information about where Rose and Owen might have been from.
