Actually, Tabar is a name both used in Judaism and among Christian Israelis. I too went to Oxford (concidently with another poster here with the same name!) and we were both surprised to learn from each other that we had the same name and I was Jewish and he was not. It's not unheard of for Jews and non-Jews to have similar names.
