George,

Thanks for the info on Hubert D Tabb. Everything you gave me matches up with what little information I have on a Hubert D Tabb, but I don't have absolute proof that this one served in the 561st Field Artillery Battalion in the Army in Europe during WW2.

I'll give you all I have on a Hubert D Tabb:

Archives AAD database shows:
service number 35711498
unknown living location at enlistment
enlisted FT Benjamin Harrison, IN on 12/11/1942
native of KY
birth year 1909

last known location Lexington, KY (may not be right)

Social Security Death Index shows:
resided at Louisville, KY at death
born 2/17/1909
died 5/1967

1930 census shows;
born about 1909
born in KY
resided at Caneyville, KY at time of census taking.

Do you have any specific information that ties this Hubert you speak of to the 561st FAB?

What is your tie to this Hubert D Tabb?

You can reply via email to:

Thanks so much for the posting, and hopefully this will lead to confirmation that he did indeed serve in the 561st.

My search relates to finding living veterans of the 561st and in cases of deceased veterans, finding family to be able to notify them of reunions the 561st has.

Gerald Vowell
