Janet,
I am well aware you are one of susan's supporters. i have spent the last 7 years putting in thousands of hours working on the family tree too. I continue to average over 50 hours/wk working on it. I get dozens of emails each week with info about the family or asking for help. If you were to look on my site, you'd see I usually have multiple references listed because I too try to check data as much as possible. And I continue to verify info by adding sources as I find them. Why because my site says I appreciate hearing from others if they have any corrections, does this make my data questionable? Why does susan feel the need to attack everything I say and put a negative slant on it? Should I tell people that I don't want to hear any corrections? I once too worked in private with susan on our differences but she is the one who has chosen to go public again slandering me. She has at least 2 separate websites that I've seen recently where the whole reason for making them [as she admits] is to complain about me. Plus she has links to them on many other places such as Find A Grave. Do you think this sounds like someone playing with a full deck that 2 yrs after our disagreement, she is still attacking me publicly? She started these sites this year! And she even used the title I use on my tree site on hers to trick people into going to her site to see what she has to say about me. Two years since this started!! And she says its a conspiracy on myfamily sites to keep others from knowing the truth about me. Conspiracy? She had her say on there 2 yrs ago and people do not want to listen to her ranting any more. That is their choice to refuse to let her post negative items about me. They were there when it all started and have made up their own minds too and realized what she was up to and put a stop to it. If some people see all of this as stalking and don't want to answer her charges because they can see she is still trying to cause me problems for 2 yrs, who am I to say they shouldn't feel that way? She has no problem posting what her supporters say against me so why shouldn't I? I have been quiet long enough. And why does that make me unethical? I know you saw her tribalpages site before she toned it down. Now much of it is hidden so only those who she wants can see it. But she openly attacked my mental health on her page and my life, my work, etc. Just because I say on my site I love to hear from new cousins, she attacks that by saying I have no life and am just a sad lonely person. She doesn't know me or about my life. You think I'm unethical for what I said on here but support what she says publicly? Then I wouldn't want to be friends with you. I don't want contact with negative, judgemental people. I am in contact with over 500 cousins now so I have many who support the tree, send me info, and who I enjoy knowing. People write begging to have their info added and more importantly, over 100 new cousins found the tree last year and now are in contact with family and their heritage. This is why a public tree is so important. But I knew that I was opening myself up to the small percentage who don't agree with it by doing so. This is why many of the researchers have written me and said they don't post their info publicly any more. They don't want the hassles that I get from the few like susan. I don't know what 'analysis' you did before forming your opinion, but I don't see how you can determine that I have unethically taken info from others. Susan herself has publicly said I repeatedly advertised my website on the myfamily sites and made no attempt to hide I was using info. I still have many supporters on there who email me info and help me but again, they don't want her to know. I removed what I was asked to remove 2 yrs ago. If you've been on the sites, you can see that I've begun posting info there for others too. But my making myself known on there openly again is what has stirred susan up again. I was never removed from all those sites but chose to keep quiet all this time so she didn't know I was there. But sharing info with others is more important to me than her hassling me and I won't let it stop my work again. If you look on my webshots link you will see I've added hundreds of censuses so others can see the actual census instead of just the info on my site. How am I doing all of this if I am not doing my own work? I continue to try to share our family history with others in any way I can. I do not hide mine from scrutiny and from others who could benefit from knowing it. What good is all the work if others can't see it and then just duplicate efforts? Susan is under the mistaken impression that she is the only one with some of this info. But there are many cousins who have known the families for generations, are much older than her, and know the same info. So you are welcome to your opinion, I will not go around slandering you because you support her nor will I make sites just to let everyone know the truth as I see it as opposed to what susan says is the truth. But it is my right to answer her posting on here where she once again is slandering my name and work. Sincerely, Barb
PS: and why does it bug susan SO much that I call these people my cousins? If I and them both like referring to ourselves as such, why is it a problem? Again, she is just ranting [publicly] about anything I say. I consider them all distant cousins and it is not warped thinking for us to do so. We enjoy knowing each other and sharing and meeting at reunions and consider this enough to make us cousins.
