Hi, my name is Morrell Berenice Hanson nee Tacey, I live at Sunshine Beach which is about 1 1/2 hours drive north of Brisbane which is the Capital of Queensland, Australia. I am descended from Christopher Tacey and Alice Ward, their son William Tacey and Rebecca Dalton, their son James Ward Tacey and Mary Phillis Craggs, his youngest son Hesperus Ogle Tacey and Catherine Casey, their son James St Lawrence Tacey and Cysy Gray, their eldest son George Hesperus Tacey my father and Phyllis Amelia Florence Scott, my mother. I was born on the 3rd October 1936. Now the reason I am replying to all your queries is that I am fortunate in having a book by a descendant of Philip Tacey and Mary Green, I do not want to name him as he is very sick but he posted the Book to me in 1992. The person who did extensive researching for the book travelled to the various towns and physically searched the relevant records. In fact there are to my knowledge, three books, the one I have is Volume 3. Now to the name "Tacey". I am led to believe that it is a double dimunitive of the name "Eustice", probably Eustice Count of Bologne who rode with William the Conquerer during the Battle of Hastings in 1066. William gave the Knights who rode with him small parcels of land all over England so they could not amass troops quickly. I also am led to believe that the name "Stacey" is also derived from Eustace. Now to George William Tacey, he is not mentioned in the Book but I believe with his descendants bearing the name "Green" he is the eldest son of William Tacey and Elizabeth Campion and is the one listed in the IGI as being christened on the 11 October 1808 at Sculcoates in Yorkshire. Now I believe the reason he is not mentioned in the Book is the mother couldn't be verified. Another way to verify his parents, now I am not aware of how much information is on American Marriage Certificates, but if they are well documented this would give the answer. Also, depending on the information on his Death Certificate, remembering it is only as good as the person giving the information, his parents might be mentioned there. Now to Green Tacey, he is one of the sons of the abovementioned born in 1818, in the 1851 Census for Marshcpal he is mentioned with his mother and father as being aged 32 years, a Labourer born at Marschapel. There is an entry for a Marriage for a Green Tacey at Louth Lincolnshire in the June Quarter 1853, it was not highlighted so there is entry for his wife. I did do a search just showing the name "Ann" and an Ann Knight came up with the same details, but of course this cannot be taken as correct. Now to the Grimsby Taceys, I have full details of same and will be happy to pass on this information to whoever is interested. If Sam could please contact me, I am sure he is descended from Harold Sam Tacey, a son of John William Tacey and his wife Margaret Tacey, I also have full details of this Family. The Will Tacey mentioned as an Actor is a Descendent of John William Tacey's son Dr Dalton Tacey. The Professor David Tacey mentioned is descended from the Leicestershire Taceys. I have also researched all the Tacey's in Australia, the Tasmanian, NSW, Queensland, South Australian and Western Australian Taceys are all related. The Victorian Taceys as mentioned above come from Leicestershire. I am happy to pass on any information which will help in your researching. Notify Administrator about this message?
