William Taffe or Taff or Taaffee
My grandparents divorced sometime between 1917 to 1923.My father never knew his father.I have done some research since my Dad died. Here is what I have found.
William Taffe came to Cambridge Ma. sometime before 1860.He was married to Mary Hafford.
Per his death cert. he was born in 1836 in Ireland and died 22 May 1894is buried in the catholic cem. in Woburn Ma called Calvery Cem.
His parents names were Patrick Taffe and Mary ?,I also found a brother John Taff (died Mar 19 1891 and buried in Calvery cem)and a sister Rose(died Jan 4 1976 and buried in Calvery Cem.
Mary Hafford Taffe per her death cert died 21 Mar 1893 and was buried in Calvery. She was born in Ireland and her parents were William Hafford and Catherine Malloney.
They had a large family.I found on census for 1870 Annie and Kate.Through birth records I found Patrick b. 1861 Mary G., b 1863, Richard b. 1872 Theresa M. b 1874 Agnes b. 1876 Twins Charlotte and George b 1879, Joseph 1881, and Alice b 1884.In the birth records there were only 2 address listed and the last name was spelled with every variation possible.William's brother's death cert said Taffe but headstone said Taff.Patrick's son's death cert said Taff.Yet my grandparents marriage cert said Taffe. We do not know were my grandfather Joseph died.We think it was Maine.
Besides my grandfather Joseph, the only other child I have been able to follow is Patrick. He married Ann Jane Smith ofPrince Edward Island.Their children were Helen E. Taff who died as a child.Getrude Taff who married Dennis Healy, and Edward Taff who married Lillian Cutlip, (they were divorced) and Martha Taff.If anyone out knows this family please contact meLaurel Taffe Carr
