Concerning the TAILLEFER/TAYLERFER/TAYLOR coat of arms... the one I have - based on information passed on to me by my grand-father is as follows:
Argent, on a chief Sa., 2 boars' heads couped of the field, Crest: A dexter arm embowed in armour, hte hand in a gauntlet grasping a javelin proper.
The MOTTO: 'Consequitor quodcunque petit' or "Whatever he aims at he accomplishes."
The TAILLEFER that I am referring to was a Norman Baron and the favourite minstral of William the Conqueror, who accompanied him in his invasion of England and was one of the 1st killed in the Battle of Hastings (October 14, 1066) by Leofwine the Saxon. He had rallied the Normans into battle and led them - thus, resulting in his death. As a friend and favourite of the Conqueror he received grants and many favours. These, inherited by his descendants and confirmed by William, gave great influence to the family.
