Hi Tammy, I was just digging around here and I might be able to help. My own ancestor (Ignace Lafesse/LaFaix/LaFex) married Ellen Taillon in about 1840 and I'm trying to find her parentage. I just came across a census for Canada posted on this site and verified the information. It's the 1851 census but it was actually taken in 1852. The transcription is in Charlottenburg, Glengarry Co., of all the Taillons there. Note that the ages are the age they will turn on their next birthday, being late 1852 (censuses were usually done in about June) or in early 1853. Since Mary Ann wasn't born until Aug of 1852, she may not appear. Here are the Frank/Francis Tyo/Taillons in the area in 1852....jsut note, if you check the actual census on automated genealogy, the page number shown here seems to be out one page....if you go by the one in brackets shown in the actual census... 1. Page 43 Line (not given in transcription) Frances Tayo Farming, Canada, Roman Catholic 40 Catherine Tayo wife 38 Frances Tayo 16 (male) Jannet Tayo 13 Catherine Tayo 10 Joseph Tayo 8 Margaret Tayo 6 Elizabeth Tayo 4 Agnes Tayo 3 Mary A Tayo 1 Sophia Tayo 1 (?) (female) The one above looks right except Mary A is born already... 2. Page 191 Line 23 Francis Tayo Farming, Canada, Roman Catholic 29 Julian Tayo, wife, Canada, Roman Catholic 30 Mary A Tayo 14 Catherine Tayo 11 Mary Tayo 10 Eliza Tayo 9 Joseph Tayo 6 John 4 Peter 1 This one is also a possibility.... And that's all for Glengarry Frank/Francis Tyo/Taillon but there are a couple in Stormont Co. 1. page 3 Francois Taillon, Labourer, upper Canada, Roman Catholic, 34 Francois 7 Susanne 2 Adilaide 5 Elizabeth 10 Rossette wife, 26 2. This one is likely too old but I included it anyway... Page 1 Line 9 Francis Taillon, Farmer, Lower Canada, Roman Catholic, 61 John 17 Joseph 20 Peter 23 Eliza, 56 Hope this helps...
