I'm looking up the old family tree and this is what I have so far starting with me:
Philip McDonald b 1960
John Taillon McDonald b. 1926
Florence Adele Taillon b. 1895 Ishpeming MI d. 1982 ST Paul MN
spouse Edward Leo McDonald b. 1/1/89 Smiths Falls ON d 1957 Proctor MN
Phileas Taillon b. 7/7/61 Ste Anne de Beaupre d. 1945 Proctor MN
spouse Effie Gratto married in Negaunee MI
At some point they moved to Proctor MN probably around or shortly after the turn of the century as some brothers in law were working for the railroads in this area.
Nazaire Taillon Ste Anne de Beaupre Quebec b.??
spouse Louise Boure Ste Anne de Beaupre b. ??
I was surprised at hearing for the first time over the holidays that my french speaking gr grandfather had told my father his name was Phileas Michel dit Taillon. I had never heard the use of the dit before and realized we probably are all indeed related back to Oliver Michel dit Taillon.
From some recent reading "American Colonies" by Alan Taylor , I was amazed to see the populations of New France were so small for many many years. That's why I am posting this, with so few people in New France in the early years I would think some information would be available.
The Taillon name is actually present in my generation in my family as my brother is John Taillon jr.
Thanks for your help. Vive les Taillons!
