All ancestry 1643 to 1840's Charles to Charles

Hello Richard,

After researching the New York, NY branch of Giles Taintor & his family, I believe your Charles is the son of Giles & Mary (Nowell West) Taintor & this is his line, including other descendants from the Charles M. Taintor book of 1847. Excuse typos, please.

1. Charles Taintor came to America from Wales with 3 sons & 1 daughter to CT in 1643. Micael, Charles, Jr., Joseph & Marie.

Our line & the Charles M. Tainor book follows son of Micael line:

2. Son, MICAEL married Elizabeth Rose & they had:
a. John, born May 1650 at Branford
b. MICAIELL, born Oct. 1652.
c. Elizabeth, born June 1655.
d. Johana, born April 1657.
e. Sarie, born Oct. 1658.

3. Son, Micaiell born Oct. 1652 in Branford, CT, he married Mary Loomis, they had:
a. MICAEL born Sept. 1680 at Windsor, Conn. Married Eunice Foote.
b. John, born Oct. 1682.
c. Mary, born Sept. 1685. Married Edward Moore of Windsor.
d. Joseph, married Elizabeth Foote in March 1710.
e. Sarah, born Nov. 1698, daughter of Micaiell & Mabel (Butler, widow of Daniel Butler) Taintor, second marriage.

4. MICAEL Taintor born Sept. 1680 in Windsor, Conn. Married Eunice Foote of Wethersfield, in Dec. 1712.
They had:
a. Eunice (Vniss) born April 1717, at Colchester, Conn. Married Aaron Skinner, of Colchester.
b. Michael, born Dec. 31, 1719. Married Sarah loomis, of Colchester.
c. Charles, born Feb. 1723. MArried Aug. 1766, Mary, dau. of Rev. Thomas Skinner, of Westchester.
d. JOHN, born July 1725, married Esther Clark in 1751, and Sarah Bulkley, daughter of Capt. Gurshom Bulkley, in 1758.
e. Mary, born Nov. 1727, married Col. David Wells, of Shelbourne, Mass in Jan. 1749, died in Dec. 1815.
f. Prudence, born Dec. 1729. Married Doct. John Waltrous, of Colchester.
g. Sarah, born April 1731, married Mr. Nathan'l Otis of Colchester.
h. Anne, born Oct. 1734. Died unmarried in Jan. 1755.

5. John Taintor born July 1725, married Esther Clark in 1751 & Sarah, daughter of Captain Gurshom Bulkley, in 1758.
a. Esther Taintor, married Hon. Joseph Isham, of Colchester, Conn.
b. Betsey, born at Colchester. Married Capt. Chas. Bulkley, of Colchester.
c. John, born Sept. 1760. Married Miss Hosford of Marlborough, Conn.
d. CHARLES, born Dec. 17th, 1762, married Miss Mary Abbe of Windham, Conn.
e. Gurshom, born May 1765 & died Oct. 1775.
f. Roger, born Dec. 1767. Married Nabby Bulkley in Dec. 1789.
g. Solomon, born Oct. 1769. Married Judith Bulkley, Dec. 1797.
h. Sally, born Aug. 1773, married Joshua E. Bulkley.
Polly, born May 1777, married Godfrey Grosvenor of Pomfret.

6. CHARLES Taintor born Dec. 17th, 1762 (so s/o Sarah Bulkley) married Miss Mary Abbe and they had:
a. Eliza, born Windham, Conn., Nov. 1794. Married Maj. Rufus L. Baker, of U.S. Army, in June 1818.
b. GILES, born July 1802, married Mary Nowell West.

7. GILES Taintor born July 1802 married Mary Nowell West of Boston, Mass, May 1836. May have graduated from Yale University.

They had:
Frank Lathrop Taintor , born Windham, Conn. in 1837
CHARLES, born March 1840.
Abby Louise, born March 1841
Henry Sherman, born April 1842

Hope this helps some. The book is not indexed or numbered, so it takes awhile to trace. The Taintor's wee prominent in the field of industry & manufacturing metals & tools.

Cahrles Sumner Taintor was affiliated with the gramaphone & Thomas Edison & Alexander Bell.
