Hi Marilyn, I too am interested in the MA Taintor/Tayntor lineage. My ancestor Ebenezer Rice married first Sarah Tayntor, daughter of Benjamin Tayntor and Sarah Brigham. (pg 34 of the Dean W. Taintor Book), then he married Ruth Eveleth in 1791. I am hoping that somewhere in your studies you may have run across my ancestor Ebenezer Rice and Ruth Eveleth. They moved to Athens/Windham/VT abt 1792 and then Ebenezer, his children by Sarah Taintor (Rolland, Ebenezer Jr. and Sarah (Sally), and his children by Ruth Eveleth, (Abel, Joel, Martha) then moved to MS first as missionaries to the Cherokees and then to Mauary TN where he died in 1831 as a Baptist minister. All of the Rice/Taintor/Eveleth (?) children then moved to White/IL in the 1820's and 30's.

The whole world has added the name Henrietta to Ruth Eveleth as a result of Ebenezer's will naming his 'wife, Henrietta'. I am searching everywhere I can think of, to see if maybe someone has an old bible, letter, book, etc. that may indicate that Ruth Eveleth and Henrietta Rice are indeed the same woman. Any suggestions? No one seems to have any document as to where the original 'folk' who added the name Henrietta to Ruth Eveleth had any proof that Ruth and Henrietta was indeed the same person.

This Rice line traces back to the Mayflower and Jamestown; the Eveleth line is of historical significance as well (Salem Witch Trials) so I would love to absolutley identify this line. I do know that this Rice/Taintor/Eveleth family stopped in the Carolina's (1800)where Ebenezer Rice, Jr. married Catsy Baldridge (a descendant of Robert Luckey) on their way to MS/TN because of family (Rice and Taintor) living there...maybe this will help you as well.

Thank you,
Donna Crosby
