Taintor, Iowa

Am interested in confirming the identity of a certain Gil(l)es Taintor, who was reportedly a large investor in the Iowa Central Railroad. This individual lived in Boston, and because of his investment, he was given the honor of having a new town named after him. The town of Taintor, located in Mahaska County, Iowa was platted in 1882, with the railroad running through Taintor between the towns of New Sharon and Newton.

The history book of Taintor states that a postmaster of Taintor had some correspondence with Starr Taintor of New York City. This individual was a nephew of Gil(l)es Taintor, and was head of the Taintor Trading Company, agents and importers.

Internet searches show that there are more than one Giles Taintor, so was wondering if somebody more familiar with the family tree could point me in the right direction and possibly give me some more information on this particular Giles Taintor.
