I sure hope you can help.I just learned this very daythat my maternal grandmother, Mary Tait, was from Portobello, Edinburgh, Scotland.I'm not sure when she was born or exactly when she died; however, because I do know that she died when my mother was 10 or 12 and she was 32 years old (my mom was born on April 25th, 1930), I'm guessing that she was born between 1905 and 1910.She immigrated to Canada and came with her sister, Agnes/Jean (not sure what her name was, really).Mary married a Metis man named Peter Emblau and had four children:Rosemary, whom everybody called Maizie (my mother who died on September 7th, 2003 - she was 73 years old), Anne (still alive and living - in Penticton, British Columbia - 75 years old), Patsy (I believe she lives in Fort McMurray, Alberta; I don't know if she is still living), and Frances who was given up for adoption after the death of her mother.Mary died in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital from blood poisoning when she was 32.If any of this information rings any bells, I would sure appreciate any help you can give.
