Found book " Monroe County, Missouri 1931-32" by Charles A. O'Dell
and it has an entry of:
Crowds have gathered in front of the show window at the MOSS store
at Paris for a week past to gaze at the picture of a remarkable
woman and a quilt she pieced in 1829. The picture of the woman amid the draped folds of the quilt is arresting, with her black hair and eyes and this lips.
Everyone stops to gaze at it. She was Sarah TALBOT, wife of Joel MAUPIN,
Monroe county pioneer in the 1820 decade, a Virginian, afterwards famous as a sheriff. Sarah was the great-grandmother of George MOSS, owner of the store.
Can anyone tell me who the parents of Sarah were?
Wondering if she was related to Peter TALBOTT who was also in Monroe co..
