Hey, I same some information for you.
Michael Talty and Bridget came from Miltown Malbay, Clare, Ireland in 1848 and traveled by boat to Canada and then to Buffalo New York. Michael and two of his children died on the boat. While on the journey, they ran aground and were stranded for 6 weeks and had to live on potato skins.

They had many children. Mike was a stone mason in Ireland and a bridge builder.
I am the decendant of Margaret on of his daughters.

Margaret had at least three brothers in Dubuque.

There was a brother John who taught school in Ireland and in Boston. He was a wizard at math. He worked for the railroad while in Dubuque. His wife was Ellen. They had a daughter Maime.

Next brother was Hugh who worked at the city hall in Dubuque as a scales weigher.

Peter had a large family and lived in Watrloo and worked for the railroad as well.
