Another development, turning in to a false trail.
Recently I found that an Ian Charles TANT had been interred in Cromarty Gaelic Cemetery in 2001.
As the only TANT child known to have been born in Cromarty was Cahrles TANT to John Tant 2 m Hannah Aldred, this seemed to good to be true.
Unfortunately it was!
His line is basically English, his father marrying in Inverness 1917, when stationed at Cromarty with the Royal Marine Light Infantry, from Farnham Surrey.
The inclusin of Charles in this line's names, however, is of interest - it might just be a lead back in the 1820s - but not researched in detail at present.
==============================
The fulsome name "Evan Baillie Fraser TANT" first seen in 1823, continues to at least the year 2000, when a person of that name married in Edinburgh, so heading rapidly towards 2 00 years.
