Hosea Tapley is said to have been killed by Indians in 1799 in North Carolina. His namesakes, not necessariy descendants, are said to have fought for Texas independence. Does anyone know the origin of Tapley Bynum's name or Tapley Holland's name?

Also, any connection among these families?
Is there an account of the Indian raid?
