CORRECTION: Re: Clarissa (Clara) Tapley married Eli Abbott in GA abt 1830

In Reply to: Clarissa (Clara) Tapley married Eli Abbott in GA abt 1830 by Elizabeth Caldwell of 732

This Eli Abbott was born in 1799, not 1860, as I previously mis-stated. His wife, Clarissa, was about the same age, having been born 22 July 180-; the photo of her tombstone in the Abbott-Darracott cemetary in Monroe Co. MS is difficult to read.

Eli was a colonel in the Seminole War (not sure which one). They migrated to MS in the early 1830's, homesteading newly acquired Indian lands in Chickasaw Co. MS. in 1832. Their first child, James Owen Abbott, was born abt 1833.

There is an Eli Abbott in the 1820 census of Habersham Co. GA. Could Clarissa Tapley have been from that area?

Thanks in advance for any help. Betsy
