Your note is a bit old but hope this might help.
My great grandmother was Caroline Sarah Tappin b 26 Dec 1862 to Stephen Henry Tappin and Maria Elizabeth (Stannard) Tappin. I have found the family on the 1861 census 6 Ada Place, Islington (if I remember correctly, I don't have my paper work with me) but can confirm the children plus a Maria born 1848. From the marriage cert for Stephen and Maria thier fathers are Stephen Tappin and William Stannard.
Can you let me know the RG number for the 1871 census (save me trawling).

Just a bit of confusion though the Joseph Tappin on the 1871 census, are you sure. Stephen Henry Tappin died 7th August 1862 just 4 months before Caroline Sarah was born. I have a copy of the death certificate. Have you any further information of the family.
Hope this is of interest
