My grandfather L.V. Harding, Jr., from Nashville, AR, told me his great, great or maybe just great grandfather's name was Tarnauskas and that he came here from Germany. He had an estate there but had a lot of debt and came to the U.S. to try to make money to save his family home. He said he changed his name to Tarno ( not sure of the spelling of either name.) Then, he said he or another person down the family tree line changed us to the Harding's. Why? I have no idea. But, I thought it strange to see both Tarno and Tarnauskas in your post, so I thought I would reply.
