ALBERT D. TARR (POSSIBLE GRANDFATHER)

Joyce,
Some facts that may help.
Lynnie Pearl Tarr and her children, including Albert, definitely would have known the Hiram E. Smith family in 1919-1920.An article from 10-13-1913 of the Titusville Herald said "Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Cavanaugh of Rouseville and Mrs. Pearl Tarr and children of Cherrytree are guests at the home of Officer and Mrs. H.E. Smith of the South Side."Mrs. Cavanaugh was the sister of Pearl.Ora Smith's maiden name was Feely. She was the daughter of Charles Feely.Pearl was a Feely as well and was the daughter of Daniel F. Feely, so there is the connection.
Although the census records show that Hiram E. Smith was a machinist, I can confirm that he was also an officer/patrolman at that time.An obituary of Grace Smith from 11-13-1911 of the Titusville Herald reads "Grace Evalyn Smith, 4 1/2 years of age, died last night at the home of her parents, Patrolman and Mrs. Hiram E. Smith of North Martin street. She was a victim of pneumonia, with which she was stricken Friday night."As you may know, Hiram and Ora Smith lived on Martin Street and had a daughter named Grace of the same age in the 1910 census.
Albert Tarr married Mildred Irene Millard on July 26, 1920.The ceremony took place in Jamestown, NY and then they settled in Jamison Corners.I would assume that there was a courtship taking place between Albert and Irene prior to their marriage.I'm not sure if that was happening at the time of Mildred becoming pregnant (approx. 8/1919).They moved to Titusville in 1922.Irene died in 1924.
The 1920 census shows Albert living with his parents in Cherrytree, PA. He was working as an oil field laborer.
The 5-27-1918 edition of the Oil City Derrick reported that Albert D. Tarr of Cherrytree married a Sophia A. Meehan (?).I don't know if they divorced or if Sophia died.
Lynnie Pearl Tarr did not move into the Hiram Smith home until some time after March, 1928 as a newspaper article at that time indicated that she lived on West Spruce Street. The 1930 census shows that the Hiram Smith family lived on West Bloss Street. Her husband, George
W. Tarr died in July, 1927.
