Dear Tom,
I was very excited to get your response. All I know is that my father was named after his father, who was Robert Forbes Tarter. When you mentioned that Sarah Tarter's brother, Robert, left oregon in the 1800's my heart skipped a beat. Was Sarah a Tarter by birth or by marriage? My Grandfather was 52 or 54 when he died making him born in either 1888 or 1890. He was a very respected business man in Bakersfield Ca. I also know that he built homes. He was married to a Hazel (Fisher) Tarter. They had 2 children, my Father Robert, and his sister Hazel. Very original on the passing down of names. As far as I know, I have no siblings.
