My grandmother - Anise Harris(maiden)Bevins
b 7/28/1884 in either Cooper,Franklin, or El Paso Texas, d 10/20/1969 in Pike Co., Ky. Married Grover Bevins.
My g- grandmother was Arte Tarter Harris b 2/22/1852 -I'm not sure if she was born in Va or Texas. She died 12/3/1890, in Floyd Co.,Ky. She married John Quincy Harris b-12/14/1847, d-4/16/1930, from Floyd Co. in 1870. They had the following children:Maude H. Leslie, Edward Harris, Neal Harris, Anise H. Bevins, & Ballard Harris.(all deceased)
Arte & John Q. lived around ElPaso when Anise was born. Sometime later they moved back to Floyd Co., Ky. Arte died when Anise was very young. Arte had a sister in Texas - Sallie K? in either Franklin or Cooper, Texas and my grandmother was sent to her. She lived with her until perhaps 25 or so then returned to Floyd Co., I do know There was a store in town called Cooper Bro.'s DryGoods and a WJ Fisher (tin) Shop.
Her Aunt Sallie did not have children and they were very close. Arter Tarter perhaps had a brother named Nicholas who had several sons and lived in Texas. That is as far as I know about the Tarters:
The parents of John Quincy Harris was John Bud Harris - Floyd Co., Ky. and Tabitha Graham Harris b-8/18/1812 from Floyd Co., Ky.
This is as far as I know about the Harris clan and Tabitha was the daughter of John Granham who fought in Rev. war at a very young age and married Rebecca Witten b 1775 d 1843 & from Tazwell Va. Rebecca's parents were Thomas Witten and Elenor Cecil of Tazwell. There is historical information of John Graham and Rebecca Witten in Frankfort, Ky. I sure hope these are the Harris' you're looking for. I have additional information if they are.
