am looking for information on my grandmothers side of the family her maiden name was yeast(or vonyeast) we are not sure. her father was joseph yeast and her mother was mary. they owned a grocery store in portland oregon as well as a ranch(my mother remembers something about race horses) they also owned a farm. i do not know where joseph or mary were from. or what her family name was(but i know that there were cousins named TARTER). i'm not sure how many children they had. my grandmother is the only one i know of but remember her talking about brothers, her name was ruth ann or ann ruth(she went by ruth). my mother talks about an uncle ray who was an engineer and helped build the vancouver-portland bridge. an uncle ralph who was a pitcher for the portland ballteam. an uncle ward who lived on the coast of oregon but again i do not know for sure if they were TARTERS or yeasts. we do know of an ernest TARTER and that he worked for the portland oregonian writing for the sport page. it is because of him that i requested this forum. i have run into dead ends on the yeast name.if anyone out there can be of help i would appreciate it. my grandmother married gay altamond hays and they had two children my mother patricia jane and my uncle david kilcrease hays.they moved to port gamble washington when my mother was very young and i remember uncle or cousin ray yeast(TARTER?) coming to visit.

i do not think that my request was the only one for a TARTER forum - so there must be someone else out there. i am lost in a maze - please help if you can. i talked with my mother this evening on the phone and she knows little else.
