Susan, The Robert I am looking for appears in the Prairie County Arkansas census of the years 1900, 1910 & 1920. He is my Great Grandfather. He married Luler Windley in Monroe County Arkansas in 1881. I remember her. She died in 1954. The problem I am having is who was his Father and what does the L represent. At present the most likely father is W.R. Tarter. That is who keeps coming up when I do a search for Robert or Robert L. W.R. had a son named Robert and the date of birth matches. W. R. Tarter was married to Netaris Baker. The hurdle I am facing with W. R. Tarter is: is this William Riley Tarter - there are several Riley Tarters? If it is I can not find, for sure, where he had a son named Robert. I am getting conflicting searches. From LDS I get William Riley Tarter and Netaris had Atlanta R. Tarter but they have this person listed as a female. The Robert L. I am looking for was born, according to the 1900 census for Prairie Cty., Arkansas, on 7/1866. The 1910 census list him as 46 years of age and I assume that one is correct because after further viewing of the image of the 1900 census it appears that it could be 1864 instead of 1866. The image is hard to read but I am confident that he was born in 1864. The census all the way up to 1920 list his children correctly, some of which years before their death I talk with as a child. Here is what I think, at present, the lineage appears to be: Robert L.'s father was W.R. and W.R.'s father was Jesse Tarter. Jesse Tarter's father was John Tarter which was the son of Balzer who was the son of Johannes Darter. If anyone out there can shed some light on this I would certainly appreciate it.
