Elizabeth Tarter Burton (ca. 1795->1879, presumed daughter of Christian and Barbara Tarter, is my ancestor. Elizabeth was the wife of Arthur Burton (1794-1855).
Most names of Christian and Barbara Tarter's children have appeared on the internet sites. I have not seen the names of Elizabeth Tarter Burton or Powers Tarter included as children of Christian and Barbara Tarter. I have received information from a researcher who also believes Barbara's maiden name is Powers. If Elizabeth and Powers are the children of Christian and Barbara Tarter, they would be among the eldest and youngest of Christian and Barbara's children. I am fairly certain, based on the research I have done over the years; that my ancestor, Elizabeth Tarter Burton, is the daughter of Christian and Barbara Tarter.
Christian Tarter was known as "Chrisley". My great-grandfather, Chrisley Burton (1853-1939), was named obviously in honor of an ancestor. Christian Tarter is probably Chrisley Burton's great-grandfather.
I shall appreciate all genealogical information regarding the Christian and Barbara Tarter family. I have not found a recorded will for Christian or Barbara Tarter. The 1810 Pulaski County, Kentucky census indicates a female in the household of Christian Tarter; I believe she is Elizabeth Tarter who became the wife of Arthur Burton. Has anyone found the marriage record of Elizabeth Tarter and Arthur Burton? Elizabeth and Arthur were probably married before 1815 in the proximity of Pulaski County.
