Hi, I'm one of Hiram and Hazel's grandsons. I know this is a pretty old posting, but I think I have birth and death dates. I can't be terribly sure; I never really got to know either of them very well.

Anyway, here's what I've found in the SS index records:
Hiram Tarter: Born 10 Nov 1902, Died Dec 1984
Hazel Tarter, ne้ Broxon: Born 31 Aug 1921, Died 11 Jul 1998

Hazel I'm pretty sure about, whereas Hiram final recorded residence along with his dates makes me fairly certain it's the appropriate record.

As far as the children (my aunts and uncles), I've got sketchy data at best. I'm certain there were seven children: Ann and Eve whom have passed on (dates unknown), Johnnie (poss. Jonnie or Jonny), Chuck (poss. Charles), Mable, Walter (my father), and Claire. Last I heard Mable was somewhere in the north-central states, Chuck was in Texas, and my dad is in Alabama. That's the best I've got.

Further, my parent's family bible had some older data. Just names; I haven't had any luck turning up any info on them. Maybe it'll help:

Hiram's parents were William David Tarter and Therelda Tarter, ne้ White. I've got nothing on William's parents, and all I know about Therelda's is that her father was a judge.

Hazel's parents were Charles Albot Broxon and Ella Broxon, ne้ Smith. I've got nothing on Charles' parents. Ella's parents were Joseph Smith and Melinda Ann Smith, ne้ Jones.

I just started doing my research a few days ago, so most everything I do have is from the family bible and the LDS site. I'd be super grateful if anybody has anything else on these names.

Aunt Claire, feel free to contact me anytime and maybe we can swap notes. I'm at

Rose, I sent you a short email already based off of one of your other replies before I saw this one. If you have anything else that might help, I'll owe you a Coke :)
