Hello Howard,
Funny how we meet on different message boards.

I'm trying to solve a question re: Thomas Teackle of Accomack Co.

According to Nugent's "Cavaliers and Pioneers..." and Whitelaw's "Eastern Shores...." Thomas Teackle bought 700 acres of land in Accomack Co (Plat 32) from Sampson Robins, and then Thomas Teackle turned around and "assigned" the land
to Christopher Calvert.

This land was next to George Parker and Dr. George Hacke.

My question is why would Teackle "assign" the land to Christopher? I'm not a lawyer, but I always thought to "assign" land was to grant or give without compensation.

Do you have any idea? He's not old enough to be Elinor's father. Elinor was wife of Christopher.
