Settled in Salisbury, NC as early as 1779. (From Camden Journal 1844)

"Thiem" family originated in Germany. During the Reformation the family (Lutheran) migrated to Holland.Team spelling was adopted when the first members of the family came to American and settled in Pennsylvania.Three brothers who were born there moved to Roanoke Island. Adam went to Salisbury, NC. 1798 lived on Lynch's Creek near NC line.1833 he moved to Columbia, Richland District, SC.
He spelled his last name Tim. He fought in the American Revolution with Captain Barr’s Company the battle of Stono Ferry and the Battle of Camden uner Generla Davie Gates. He was a privatae and served 10 months under Wade Hampton’s SC regiment at Eutaw Springs. He lived on Coldwater Creek near Kinston, NC; Roanoke Island, NC; Salisbury, Mecklenburg County, NC1779-1791; near Lynch’s Creek in SC 1798; Richland District, Columbia, SC; Carbarrus County, NC. He was a Lutheran. His name was orininally Hans Adam Christopher Diem.
