Robert Telford b. 1733 m. McCroskey or Workman?
Maybe I’m overlooking something. Researchers seem to be about evenly divided with respect to the spouse of Robert Telford born 1733. About ½ say he married Sarah McCroskey (spelling varies widely) and the other ½ say he married Sarah Workman/Woertman. The latter group shows most or all of his children born in New Jersey, where the marriage is said to have taken place, but nobody troubles to cite sources or explain how this one brother of 5 ended up in New Jersey. Can anyone shed any light? Where is the evidence of the Workman marriage? We know from Rockbridge records that the Telfords (including Robert akaRobert Tedford)and McCoskys lived in the same community, and that James Telford married a McCrosky/McCroskry/McCosky.
