Hi Lesley,
That would be my Father and Uncle. My father did move to Wales in his early 20's, he worked as paymaster for a mining concern and he did marry and had a daughter as you described. In about 1929 or 1930 they immigrated to the United States. They lived in Cleveland, Ohio. In approximately 1932, Emily died of rheumatic fever and within a year Ethel had grieved herself to death over the loss. My father became a United States citizen in 1936 and on Christmas Day of 1937, he married my mother (Mary Elizabeth Grover). My sister Rosemary was born in 1942, I was born in 1943 and my younger brother Grover McGregor Telford was adopted in 1945. We were all born in Washington D.C. My father died in 1958 in Alexandria, Virginia and shortly thereafter my mother moved us all to Florida where my sister and I still live. My brother lives in Lexington, Kentucky. My mother passed away at the age of 93 in 1993.
I would certainly welcome any further information on my father's brother George and his descendants as well as my father's father and grandfather. As far as I am aware, George was my father's only brother. Also, please let me know how we are related.
Thank you so much for sharing.
John Telford
