Hi John,
It is very good to be in touch!
Thank you for all your information – it fills in a lot of gaps; it is fascinating to me to find out what happened to all these people who have just been names on a page.
Here is what I know about your Telford family:
Your grandfather was Charles Telford (born 1846 in Berwickshire, Scotland, died Berwick on Tweed 1923), who married Alice Blackie (born Berwickshire 1848, died Berwick on Tweed 1925).
Your great grandfather was William Telford (1815 – 1872, born and died in Berwickshire) who married Jane Patterson (1809-1877, born and died in Berwickshire).
Your great great grandfather was William Telford (born Dumfries, Scotland in 1782, died Berwickshire 1855) who married Geils Kerr (1792-1875, born and died Berwickshire).
I will send a more detailed family tree to your personal email address – please let me know if this arrives safely, and I can send you more information that I have pieced together about the family.
You ask how we are related:
Your grandfather Charles Telford had a younger brother Alexander Nesbit Telford who married Margaret Johnston and moved to Gateshead, County Durham in England.Three of Alexander’s children (George Johnston Telford, Janet Johnston Telford and Jeannie Patterson Telford) emigrated to Yonkers, New York – they would have been your father’s cousins.Alexander’s youngest son was John (‘Jack’) Patterson Telford (1879-1942) – he stayed in Gateshead, and my husband is one of his grandsons – so I am only related to you by marriage.
Another of Jack Patterson Telford’s grandchildren has a home in Florida – I don’t know if you are anywhere near each other, but I will send contact details to your private email address.
Very best wishes,
Lesley
