Searching family history of Robert Taylor TELFORD, b. 1860.In 1880 he moved to the US, read an article re. Riel Rebellion & decided to move to Western Canada.He was in the North West Mounted Police for 4 years.In 1889 he homesteaded on the townsite of Leduc, Alberta.He built a house there in July 1889 - the largest building between Edmonton and Calgary & ran it as a hotel.About 1890 he went to Wisconsin, m. Belle HOWARD, & returned to Leduc.He was a busy man - ran a lunber yard, spent 4 years running a general store with a partner, was Leduc postmaster from 1894-1905.He was the only Justice of the Peace in the area for 13 years, & was Leduc's first MLA (Liberal) from 1905 - 1913.He was on Leduc's town council for many years and mayor from 1915-1916 (during WW1). The first Leduc man to die in WW1 was Robert & Belle's son Raymond TELFORD, age 22.Robert d. 1933 at the age of 73.Telford Lake is named after him.I would like to know the names of his parents, where they were born (date immigrated) and died,the names of his siblings, where Robert was born etc.Thank you.
