Hi Timothy,
I am researching my AA/Native WEEDENS,WHILDENS,WHELDONS/
BROWNS family ancestry and believe there is a connection to
RI WEEDENS where a Black Telford female married a MINTUS
WEEDEN.
I am not familiar w/the TELFORD surname in SC, but do know
that some RI slaveholders removed to SC, to avoid paying
heavy slaveholding taxes, so I would be most interested
in the bible slave names and perhaps make a connection to
my own SC,NC and VA ancestors.
I am having little luck finding info on my line, but believe that my ggrandfather, WM LAWRENCE WEELDON, Black,
born 1829 SC, was a slave of the WHEELDON/WHILDEN family
of Sumter and Christ Church, SC.
Hoping to hear from you.
Sincerely,
carol wheeldin warren.
